Frequently Asked Questions

Where will my massage session take place?

As sessions will generally occur in the comfort of your own home., you will select the location of your session. The room chosen should have enough room to fit a twin sized bed comfortably, with space to walk around it. It is suggested to chose a room away from distractions or outside noises, such as busy roads. Also make sure any animals that could interrupt your relaxation are accounted for.

Must I be completely undressed?
You will only be asked to undress to whatever level you are comfortable, if at all. You will be fully draped during the session, meaning only the body part being worked on will be exposed. Your massage therapist will leave the room before your session while you disrobe.

Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body session will include work on your head, face, neck, shoulders, back, arms, hands, glutes, legs, and feet. During your pre-session consultation, feel free to mention any specific areas that you would like focused on or avoided.

Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are. It is our to personalize your session by using a variety of massage techniques and modalities to cater to your specific issues and produce therapeutic relief. Techniques are pulled from Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular & Trigger Point therapy, Reflexology, Postural Assessment, and other modalities in Richard's work.

What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions or concerns about the technique or the upcoming session. Generally, you will be both face-up and face-down through the session. While your body is draped in sheets, only the specific areas being worked on will be revealed. You are invited to verbalize any feelings you have during the session regarding pressure or a specific area. The therapist may gently adjust your body to work on specific muscle groups. Do not be afraid to bring up any issues or concerns during your session- it will only benefit the process.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
